Thank You For Smoking

After watching, "Thank You For Smoking" the title says it all. The main character, Nick Naylor, worked for the deadly but popular tobacco industry. He was a salesman for cigarettes. He was very loyal to his company and spoke highly of cigarettes. After all his job was to do whatever possible so the public would continue to buy tabacco products. Having such a job aloud him to be very persuasive. He ends up going infront of a board arguing that tabacco products do not need a label saying it is harmful. He ability to be persuasive won the argument and showed how being persuasive can work in your favor sometimes.

new moon

I would not consider myself a huge twilight fan because i haven't read or own any of the books, have a t-shirt or bag, and dont have any posters with there faces. although i do have the movie and have seen it several times, but NEW MOON was amazing. My boyfriend and I went to the movies the other day to see it. It was kind of awkard because JACOB is gorgeous, and my boyfriend knows when i laughed because he took he's shirt off it was a nervous laugh :) he didn't say anything though, just looked at me. The movie made me want to read the books, because the ending was not right. it ended with a question that im dying to find out the answer too!!!!! so if you haven't seen new moon go see it, even if you hate love movies this one has a lot of action!!1

tranferring!!!

Fall 2010 has always been my goal of when I will be transferring schools. However I have still not made up my mind as to what school I will be transferring to. My major is Veterinary Medicine, and HACC does not offer that so I change my major or transfer, and there is no way I will change my major I have wanted to be a Veterinary ever since I was 5. There's three schools that i have been looking at for awhile now, Wilson, University of Hawaii Manoa, and Michigan State Univeristy.

Wilson is an ALL GIRLS CAMPUS! I not really a girlie girl so being around nothing but girls would drive me crazy. However wilson is the number 1 school for VMT and they have a campus filled with animals so the hands on part is perfect. It is also in PA so I would not have to pay the out of state tutition, even though it does not make a difference because tutition is 28,000 a year anyways.

University of Hawaii Manoa is in Hawaii so the weather would be right up my alley! There VMT program focuses mainly on the equine (large animal) side, such as, farm animals. However thats where all the money is at. Dealing with household pets a VMT can make 40-57,000 a year. A VMT with equine is anywhere from 67-133,000 a year. So either way the money is good. I havent heard much about how good the UHM program is though. The tutition is 24,000 a year which includes non-residents and housing. My family have a beach house in Manoa though so i would be a resident and would not need housing so my tutition would be 12,000 a year.

Michigan State University is a nice campus. It has amazing sports teams and great teachers. I went last year to visit the school and fell in love with it. Except for the weather! I conplain about PA weather and Michigan is much worse!! The tutition is 35,000 a year. So it's kind of pricey but I have paid my way for everything so if that's where i go i'll pay my way there too.

I have until the end of this semester to choice a school but all 3 of them offer something different. So lately i've just been in and out of HACCs office trying to figure out which school they could transfer my credits too.

The Box

I just got back from the movies with my cousin. We went to see "The Box". So the movie was an hour an a half long and the dumbiest movie ever! Everyone in the movies looked bored and when the movie was over everyone was talking about how lame the movie was!! The movie had a lot of unanswered questions and a lack of excitement. It started off really slow and pretty much stayed that way the entire movie. So I sugguest no one waste their money.

date night

Everybody has a date night, especially if you have a girlfriend or boyfriend. My boyfriend and I usually hang out whenever we can but Fridays are our "date nights". We always go to a movie or rent a movie then go out to dinner. I look forward to those Friday nights because I get to buy a new outfit and get dressed up to look nice for him. He does the same too. It's kind of like our tradition. However we never stay in York through. There's nothing here really. We like to go to Harrisburg or Baltimore most of the time.

This past Friday I wanted to see the movie "Precious". Of course it wasn't playing in York so maybe next weekend we will go to Harrisburg and see if it's playing

Bronchitis

Tuesday afternoon I went around looking at new cars with my boyfriend. It was fun looking, test driving, and filling out some paper work. However he was the one that actually got the new car tuesday instead of me which I was okay with. The thing I wasn't okay with was that I ended up getting sick that night instead of getting a car!

When I woke up Wednesday morning I couldn't believe right and could handle talk. I called my doctors and made an appointment for as soon as possible. Finally I got out of the doctors office and all I wanted to do was sleep. I was so sad because it turns out I have bronchitis and can't work or do anything until Monday! Which puts all of my plans on hold and also I had just got a new job and had to call and let them no that I won't be able to work again until Monday. That's 23 hours I would be loosing on my paycheck and it just makes me even more mad to think that it!

Anyways its Saturday now and I'm still feeling horrible! I hope by tomorrow I will at least be able to get out of bed because since Wednesday that's all I've been doing!!

Couples Retreat

All last week I was bugging my boyfriend to take me to the movies to see Couples Retreat. I wanted to see it really bad because anything with Vince Vaugh in it is funny to me. However my boyfriend and me have different taste in movies. We finally went on saturday to see it. Surprisingly the movie made him laugh and he liked it! I knew i would like it because I like to laugh, and of course I did a lot of it. After the movie we went to Roburritos (my favorite place in the world). Then it was back to my house to go to sleep.

halloween is soon!!

PRE-GAME 4 HALLOWEEN!

So im not much of a halloween kinda person, but i do love to party!!!! Every year before any holiday me and my boyfriend plan out our "pre-game parties" which means we have a party for the actual party. We usually have the pre-game party about 2-3 weeks before the holiday. This year the pre-game halloween party is going to be at our new house! It will be are first party there and we're going all out! Also we will have our halloween party too their, but thats not until halloween. The house is amazing! It has 5 bedrooms 3 1/2 baths and huge party rooms!!! so now the next step is to find a halloween custome!

Work

I feel like everything revolves around work. Mondays are crazy for me, I work from 8:30am-1:00pm than have to sit through boring classes until i go to work at 5pm til close which is 11pm. I feel like i never have time to do anything or see anyone. When i finally get home from work i only have like two hours to relax than i'm up all night with the dogs and babies. However im in the progess of getting a new job and hopefully i get it, because then i'll have more time to hang out with my friends, be alone, and not be in such of a bitchy mood

York Fair

okay i'm not sure if it's me or if everyone my age feels this way. The York Fair use to be the highlight of Septmeber for me. However this years, it was nothing special. The York Fair is a carnival directed towards little kids. Theirs rides, games, and food everywhere you walk.

When i was little the fair seemed so much larger. I remember being tired coming home after walking awhile. This year on the other hand, I was just bothered with all the people running around starting fights. I think i just went for the food this year which wasn't as good as i remember it. Maybe things are just better when your a little kid.

facebook!!!

So facebook has taken over the world! It seems like everyone you meet as a facebook from your everyday college student to the president of the united states. Facebook is everywhere, but what draws people to having a facebook?

I believe that, facebook is the new way of texting. Onces you log on you can update your status to say what your doing at that exact moment or later on in the day. People can then comment on what you wrote and say whether or not they liked it or not. Facebook is always a good way to stay in touch with friends or family members that have moved away. You can ook them up by there first and last name or by there email address. Friend request them and stay in touch forever. Also you can upload pictures from your everyday life.

Facebook is the new thing of 2009. If you don't have one i suggest you create on asap.

what should colleges teach?

I think colleges should focus more on what the students want to learn and how they learn. Most students are visional or hands on learners, so if the teachers would teach that way a lot more students would be involved with class and more willing to come to class. Also the professors should be more willing to change there teaching skills. The professors that just stand infront of the room and have the students take notes doesn't help. I personally get bored if I have to just sit and take notes the whole time and I get distracted by every little thing.

final destination 3d

yesterday i saw final destination 3 in 3d. it was an okay movie but it was really short. i think the characters died to fast in the movie and the story lane wasn't like all the others. when you actually keep everything interesting. in the previous movies the characters safed eachothers lives and they kept the story plot alive. however in this one they only saved one character and everything kept moving the way it would have.

what is good writing?

Good writing is different depending on who is reading it. Some would say good writing means to use proper grammar and have a good topic. Others may say good writing is when you catch the readers' attention. I personally agree with catching the readers' attention. If I'm reading a novel and it uses a lot of words I don't understand I'm going to get frustrated and give up on the novel. However, if the topic is a topic I generally have an interest in I'm more likely to understand it and enjoy it more.


Other on the hand, bad writing is common. I think it's when the writer talks about a topic they clearly have no idea about and act as if they do. They use improper grammar and do not prove their point or catch the readers' attention in the end. They also lack basic skills, such as, run on sentences, fragments, double negatives, and spelling errors, that most people would have at the age of 16.
